Conifers

Conifers Are Evergreen Friends

Conifers are the greens that keep on giving! Among some of the most favored and commonly recognized conifer trees are the Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine and Blue Spruce. Nature has shared hundreds of conifer species that are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. From small and slow-growing (well suited for a rock garden) to column-like (great for hosting a colorful vine), conifers always make a statement. Textural and defining, conifers are a perfect solution to providing year-round interest within your garden. And, they are a great choice, whether to help meet privacy needs or showcasing as a prized specimen within your garden.

Ranging from groundcover to towering specimens, our favorites include:

Creeping Juniper (Juniperus horizontalis)
Dwarf Blue Spruce (Picea pungens)
Mexican White Pine (Pinus ayacahuite)

Conifers, although not considered "shade-producing," absorb harsh heat elements of a Southern- or Eastern-facing garden area and are worthy of consideration beyond the winter holiday season. These trees are an important part of our Earth's diversity as they produce seeds for both birds and humans alike!
